Spyware and Adware Review

Please no annoying answers, like ‘There’s no point because it dosn’t get rid of absolutely everything’, without elaborating, I want an objective answer. This is also assuming that I haven’t been tricked into downloading a virus. Will deleting a user account remove adware and spyware picked up by browsing the internet?

The answer is: depends on what browser was used. Reffering to browsing activity alone, then deleting a user from Windows will get rid of any temp files, cache and cookies related to that user on Internet Explorer, Firefox and possibly Chrome. Opera and Safari may be configured for global settings so according to configuration this may or may not get rid of spyware contracted by them.

Regarding adware, it also depends on the type of adware. Especially the kind that can be contracted by IE, they can install themselves neatly in the system and hijack other users settings (especially if the user who got the adware initially had administration rights). But deleting the guilty user will make it easier for a software like AdAware to cleanup whatever’s left.
