How do I rid my computer of trojan's, adware?

The services I have tell me I have large amount of infections, but they won’t remove them unless I pay and register. Is there a way to remove them for free?

Removing Spyware can be time consuming without the right tools start with Malwarebytes (http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html). Sometimes, this alone will get you clean. Most of the time it takes various discs and cleaners to get you going.
At the very most, keep in mind that you do not have to format your computer, or reset it to factory default. You also don’t have to roll your computer back to a date in the past.
My advise would be to let a company like Computers Last Forever (http://www.computerslastforever.com) look at your computer.
