Spyware and Adware Review

When my computer is on I get full screen ads from women’s health & entertainment. I never asked for these services.

  1. Trailerpark Pirate Said,

STOP ALL THE POPUP ADS AND NAKED LADY’S
(All you have to do is set up a good Hosts file and all the BS popups and naked lady’s that slow down your computer will stop and your web pages will load up faster!)
(Note)These directions are for XP pro, check the site for info on other operating systems?
Go to this web site and download their latest Hosts file and open it with your WinRar/WinZip and extract it to C:/WINDOWS/System 32/Drivers/Etc/Hosts and hit yes when it asks to overwrite your original file and that’s it.(Note)If you want to block a site just add/edit 127.0.0.1 thesiteyouwanttoblock.com/net\org (Whatever) to the file using notepad and that site will never load again!

    (Works Great Try It Out!)

  2. ★Eric☆ Said,

Get a scanner to scan, detect, and delete any adware:

    (FREE!)

Make sure you are using a good Security System such as Norton 360 or ZoneAlarm.
    http://symantec.com
    http://zonealarm.com
    http://trendmicro.com

Get your browser up to date. If you are using IE make sure you are using version 8. Nothing is wrong with IE so dont let ppl tell you to get Firefox, its all up to you.

    DEFEND YOUR BROWSER!

A good FREE antispyware with REAL TIME PROTECTION:
    http://lavasoft.com

Make sure that any program you have on your computer that isnt one you recognize is uninstalled properly.

Update your computer as often as you can with windows update.

Scan at least once a week.

    Good Luck.

  5. Andrew Said,

Yes you should get one of the above listed spyware removal tools. However zone alarm really has nothing to do with spyware or adaware at all.

I run Norton Internet Security 2009 and Use FIREFOX which is much more secure than IE. In the future I would highly reccommend using or slowly converting to Firefox. That being said I have absolutely NO adware, popups, or spyware of any sort on my PC or laptop.

I would reccomend downloading Advanced System Care (Free Edition) it is a one click no hassle program which not only blocks spyware and adware but also removes it and speeds up your pc in various other ways

If you have any questions feel free to contact me…I am online on all of these accounts right now.

    Good luck and Regards,
    Andrew

Don’t let these parasites into your system in the first place!
Preemptive measures help stop these guys on your doorstep and keep ‘em out. The following tips help, but methods (vectors) constantly change.
    ****************
FIREFOX: Tools> Options> Privacy: Check ‘Accept Cookies from sites’
    & Un-Check ‘Accept 3rd Party cookies’
    With these add-on’s:
♦♦♦"NoScript" for Firefox will stop a lot of this adware/spyware & hijackers; and is THE single most important thing you can do to prevent most script based malware suppositories ♦♦♦
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722
[When on any site, down on the far right corner is a blue 'S' with a red line through it: right click that> tick 'forbid (whatever)' &/or mark as 'untrusted'.
(Ticking all may reduce interactive behavior; enable just enough to get what's necessary to view the page, on a 'temporarily allow' basis)]

    Flashblock: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/433
Adblock Plus works pretty good too: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865 (make sure to utilize the ‘Subscriptions’ from ABP drop arrow> ‘Preferences’ tab & look in ABP > Preferences> Filters> Add filter subscription> "View All Subscriptions" link @ top of window> (on the new window, select those which you’d like to add)> follow prompts.
The list is long…look for any that will help your browse sessions be ‘cleaner’.

"Super Cookie" (flash type) not handled by ‘normal’ browser settings; https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6623
    **********
    INTERNET EXPLORER: Tools> Internet Options> Privacy> Advanced:
here check ‘Override automatic….’; ‘Allow session cookies’; ‘Allow 1st party cookies’ & ‘Block 3rd Party Cookies’.
Using IE (all flavors) and allowing "active scripting" is the single biggest mistake people make. "Drive by installs", "Opacity based attacks", and many other malware problems arise from this feature alone…(switch to Firefox).

And, get this installed: "HOSTS file" (from mvps.org) which blocks evil webpage assets from re-directs which install malware or trashware. (Vista requires special instructions; on-page link)

Rouge malware and escalating server based spyware are becoming indistinguishable & may cause system misbehavior .
Requires "Opt Out" on EVERY browser on EVERY machine.
