Right-click on the icon that you click on to launch the program and select “run as administrator”. Then double-click on it like you normally do (normal left-click).

ianbrowncc Said,
By default UAC (enabled by default in Vista) prevents you from running commands like CHKDSK from the command prompt. You would have to set admin privileges for it to work like XP does.
So go to Start and then start typing “command prompt” until the shortcut shows up in the search list. Then right click on it and choose “Run as Administrator”. Choose to confirm or type in your password to elevate the process.
Then you can run chkdsk from the elevated command prompt without problems.

I did the chkdsk in Command Prompt(And I made sure I did it properly) but it said Access Denied. Why? I am using windows vista btw.
ianbrowncc Said,
Not sure what you mean by personal computer, but yes, any Windows XP and Windows Vista system has the ability to use the CMD function.
ianbrowncc Said,
No, nod 32 av will not conflict with the anti-spyware programs. But if you want to continue to use nod 32, then do not install Avast anti-virus, which is another video that I did. Nod 32 will conflict with Avast, as you can not have two anti-virus progams installed on the same computer. It can hurt the system and neither of them will be able to do their job.
ems0j Said,
cmd? can i try it on personal computer? Thanks
ems0j Said,
I had a eset nod 32 av, will not conflict if i use ad-aware, spybot & spywareblaster? I had a problem about pop ups, what do you recommend? Is Noadware a rogue program?… thanks!
arviagent13 Said,
Oh yeah also..do you know if Windows Vista has a “run” option as well. I have Windows Vista on my laptop but I was hoping that there was a similar option like “run” on Windows XP.

Dude..your a genius..my comp was really slow on start up and I ran all virus and spyware/adware scans and found absolutely no infections. But when I used the cmd concept..it completely repaired all the internal disk errors and now its back to its normal state. Thanks so much and i will recommend this video to all my friends.

y do u download so fast??
ianbrowncc Said,
Great. Glad they helped. Click on the link below this video that I just added, and it will walk you through finding, download, installing, updating, and using AVAST anti-virus, one of the best free anti-virus programs out there. Make sure that you remove any anti-virus program that is currently installed on your system. Otherwise they will conflict.
And if you have not had an anti-virus program installed for a while, I highly suggest you run a scan after you install it. Good luck!
