Question by Jann: Detecting Spyware, keyloggers, etc. on a Mac?
Is there a program available to detect and remove spyware or surveillance software that has been installed on a Mac? I know the virus threat to Macs is low. I’m concerned that someone, a friend’s ex-boyfriend, may have installed a keylogger or other surveillance software on her Mac while they were together. If there is not a program available for download, is this something an Apple service technician could scan and detect if the computer is taken in?

I recommend Bazooka Adware and Spyware Scanner.

It doesn’t remove but it does tell you step-by-step how to do it yourself. This is how I learned how/where these different critters get installed. Now, I know what to look for to remove others if they show.
If you follow the steps, you won’t damage the registry. Besides…Just back it up if you fear the registry.
